Introduction to Magic Origins

Magic Origins, also known as ORI, is a unique set in the Magic: The
Gathering (MTG) universe. Released on July 17, 2015, it stands apart
from other core sets, offering a fresh perspective on the origin stories
of some of the game’s most iconic planeswalkers.

Uncovering the Origins

Magic Origins explores the early days of five pivotal planeswalkers:
Gideon Jura, Jace Beleren, Liliana Vess, Chandra Nalaar, and Nissa
Revane. Each planeswalker’s origin story is told through a cycle of five
double-sided ‘origin’ cards, allowing players to delve into their past
and see how they became powerful planeswalkers.

The Planeswalker’s Spark

One of the central themes of Magic Origins is the ‘spark’ that
ignites a planeswalker’s power. This set provides insight into the
moment when each of these characters’ sparks ignited, setting them on
their path to greatness.

New and Returning Mechanics

Magic Origins introduces a brand-new mechanic, ‘Renown,’ which
rewards players for combat and adds a layer of strategy to creature
combat. It also revisits the ‘Scry’ mechanic, allowing players to
manipulate the top of their library for more control over their
draws.

A Great Entry Point

Magic Origins is designed to be accessible to new players, with
straightforward rules and clear card design. It’s a great starting point
for those who are new to MTG but also offers depth and strategy for
experienced players.

Collecting the Origins

For collectors, Magic Origins includes mythic rares, rares, and other
sought-after cards. The chance to own cards depicting the origins of
iconic planeswalkers is a unique and cherished aspect of this set.

Origins of the Multiverse

Magic Origins provides a glimpse into the multiverse of MTG by
exploring the histories of its most famous characters. It’s a set that
combines storytelling and strategy, making it a standout in the Magic
universe.

Magic Origins invites you to embrace the origins of these iconic
planeswalkers and experience their journey from novice spellcasters to
